About The NorCalcyber Mayors Cup
The NorCalCyber Mayors Cup brings awareness to cybersecurity careers and provides students an opportunity to engage in team-based learning. The Sacramento County Office of Education and the North Far North Regional Consortium invite students, educators, businesses, and government leaders from across Northern California to participate in the 2021 NorCalCyber Mayors Cup experience.
In 2018, the California State Assembly issued a challenge: Fill the 40,000 open cybersecurity jobs throughout the state. The solution to this problem is a pathway that leads students from K-12 to college and into the workforce, all while explaining a concept that can be complex and difficult to understand — and having a little fun along the way.
The NorCalCyber Mayors Cup aims to do all of those things by utilizing cyber competitions to spread awareness about the cybersecurity field and the opportunities that exist within it. Students, parents, teachers, government officials, business leaders, and other stakeholders come together to participate and build California’s future cyber workforce.
The 2021 Mayors Cyber Cup will be held virtually and feature LIVE@5, a month-long webinar series leading up to the NorCalCyber California Mayors Cyber Cup Competition. Attendees will take a tour of the competition platform from Cyber Skyline, learn how and why cybersecurity is important, and hear from leaders in the field on how they found their way into one of the fastest-growing industry segments of our nation. Tune in each Wednesday from 5:00 to 6:00 PM, starting March 17th through April 14th. Parents, coaches, & community members are welcome to tune in to the Live@5 webinar series, as well as the NorCalCyber Mayors Cup Awards Ceremony on Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM PT.
The Cup Experience
Guest speakers, including students, community leaders, and more, will share their perspectives and observations about the world of cybersecurity each week.
Each Wednesday evening beginning March 17th with a kick-off from 5pm – 6pm until Wednesday, April 14th, we invited you to join fellow students, educators, business representatives, and government leaders for our LIVE@5 series.
Middle school, high school, and community college students in Northern California are invited to compete in the 3nd annual NorCalCyber Mayors Cup.
At the NorCalCyber Kick-Off Event on Wednesday, March 17th from 5:00 to 6:00 PM, students will tour the globally acclaimed National Cyber League cybersecurity competition platform and the opening of the "gym." Students will learn how to navigate, and some of the in's and out's of the platform they will be using for the actual competition on Saturday, April 17th.
