Mayors Cup

Join the Month-Long Experience Culminating in a Virtual Competition for Northern California Middle School, High School, and Community College Students

Mayor Darrell Steinberg has continued to show his support of Cyber programs in Sacramento. Jesuit High School teams have won the California Mayors Cyber Cup competition for the past two years, giving the coveted trophy cup to Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg. It is a privilege for the students of the winning team to present the trophy to their Mayor following the competition.

Greater Sacramento Region

Previous Chico Mayor Randall Stone and now Mayor Andrew Coolidge support the NorCalCyber Mayors' Cup efforts to increase tech education and career awareness in the North State. The CORE Butte Charter High School team won the first Far North Mayors Cup Competition in 2019 to bring the trophy to the Mayor's office in Chico. Ukiah High School took home second place. Community involvement for these amazing opportunities will lead to sustainable long-term support of our student's education.

About The NorCalcyber Mayors Cup

NorCalCyber Mayors Cup Presentation

The NorCalCyber Mayors Cup brings awareness to cybersecurity careers and provides students an opportunity to engage in team-based learning. The Sacramento County Office of Education and the North Far North Regional Consortium invite students, educators, businesses, and government leaders from across Northern California to participate in the 2022 NorCalCyber Mayors Cup experience.

In 2018, the California State Assembly issued a challenge: Fill the 40,000 open cybersecurity jobs throughout the state. The solution to this problem is a pathway that leads students from K-12 to college and into the workforce, all while explaining a concept that can be complex and difficult to understand — and having a little fun along the way.

The NorCalCyber Mayors Cup aims to do all of those things by utilizing cyber competitions to spread awareness about the cybersecurity field and the opportunities that exist within it. Students, parents, teachers, government officials, business leaders, and other stakeholders come together to participate and build California’s future cyber workforce.

Details regarding dates, times, and competition format will be released in October 2022.
