NorCalcyber Mayors cup 2024

SATURDAY, APRIL 27

Registration is open!

The 6th annual NorCalCyber Mayors Cup will be held on Saturday, April 27th, 2024.

Known as the "Mayors Cup," this competition is designed to offer all students the opportunity to learn cybersecurity skills and try out team competitions which are as much fun as they are educational.

The Mayors Cup (not Mayor's Cup) is plural because it represents our communities across California. The winning high school team will present the perpetual trophy cup to their mayor at a city council meeting. This helps build a bridge between the local government and cybersecurity education, bring awareness and focus to a critically important career pathway that meets the needs of our communities.

The Mayors Cup includes an open "gym" for learning the skills of the game and will open beginning March 1st. The competition is open to all middle school, high school and all college students in Greater Sacramento and Far North regions of California. NEW competitors are welcome - this is a perfect opportunity to learn about cyber in a fun way.

The Mayors Cup

The NorCalCyber Mayors Cup brings awareness to cybersecurity careers and provides students with an opportunity to engage in team-based learning. The Sacramento County Office of Education has supported students and their coaches to participate in the NorCalCyber Mayors Cup since 2018.

In 2018, the California State Assembly issued a challenge: Fill the 40,000 open cybersecurity jobs throughout the state. Now, in 2024 industry cites over 55,000 open jobs. Our students are our future and we must help train them so they are prepared to bring their skills to the workforce.

The NorCalCyber Mayors Cup is designed to use cyber competitions to spread awareness about the cybersecurity field and the opportunities that exist within it. Students, parents, teachers, government officials, business leaders, and other stakeholders come together to participate and build California’s future cyber workforce.
